LG G Flex Review

Innovation is one of the core quality which made LG grow and to excel in electronics industry as well as in the mobile market. They have recently launched their first curved mobile phone which can be bent (to a certain degree 180 to be specific). They have coined the name of this phone as LG G Flex.

G Flex introduced Curved P-OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen technology that has already been showed off in their latest OLED Television launches. It has a 700 mm curvature. The whole concept of “Curved Phone” is actually more of a designing innovation which enhances the basic function of a phone to “LISTEN” and to “Speak”. The sound dynamics friendly curved shape of the phone aids speaker and microphone to easily and efficiently send and receive voice signals. The extra curvature on phone also enhances contrast, readability even in daylight conditions as it does reflectance reduction by the curved surface. It also helps in framing human faces for photographs. LG is using “self healing technology” to make the phone flexible and also to increase its durability. LG also states that the curved body will help in better handing of the phone ergonomically.

However, we need to keep in mind that this technology is still in a novice state and keeping the phone flexed for a longer timespan can cause permanent fracture or damage to the phone’s body.

To Buy Or Not to Buy

Personally, I belong to the clan that believes that curved screen technology is a sham by the Tech giants to fool the consumer. We have not seen any fruitful use of the curved screen yet apart the fame that you get in your inner circle of friends by carrying the latest tech in the market. The price doesn’t justify the usefulness yet. I am in favor of holding back my horses until, this technology pose a real use that also coincides with practicality.
